Summerwood Facts and History

Summerwood is a master planned  community of 3200 homes on Lake Houston on 1500 acres in the northeast quadrant of the Greater Houston area. Summerwood offers a convenient location just 15 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and just over 20 miles to Downtown Houston via convenient access to Beltway 8. Summerwood was developed by McCord Development. The process to assemble the land that would become Summerwood began in the mid 1980s when Rick McCord saw the underutilized potential of the area to become a bedroom community for Houston supported by the main pillars of Houston's economy. The same developer is also in the works of developing Generation Park - a business park on 4000 acres that will be the home of FMC Technip.

Summerwood Market Overview

The real estate market in Summerwood is a strong Seller’s market which means there are more buyers competing for a low inventory of homes for sale. The demand for homes has been fueled by a combination of historically low interest rates, inward migration of buyers from high tax states (i.e California) and the desire to shift capital from inflated securities into real assets. If you are a buyer looking for a home in Humble Texas, you are likely to face a competitive environment which makes it even more important to get pre-approved and be ready to make strong offers when the right property hits the market. If you are looking to sell, this is a very favorable time with multiple buyers going after well priced and well marketed homes.
